Surplus goods are collected and attractively arranged for sale in the Austin Street Thrift Store.
The Thrift Store serves a three-fold purpose:
To provide on-the-job training to clients of Austin Street Centre. eg: inventory skills, merchandising; retail sales; cash sales; customer service; punctuality; janitorial skills, etc.
All sales dollars are directed to Austin Street Centre's operating budget. Last year this totaled more than 10% of our operating revenues.
Located in an economically depressed neighborhood, the store offers customers the opportunity to purchase new and gently used items at affordable prices. Everything from children's clothing to furniture to appliances. Bargains can also be found on books, jewelry and house wares.
