Volunteers are the backbone of Austin Street Centre filling a variety of positions in everyday shelter life. Young children, office co-workers, civic organizations, churche groups, families and individuals bring their talent to our clients and thus ensuring the continuing operation of the Centre.

You. You and your family. You and your co-workers. You and your church, synagogue, school or service organization. The key word here is

YOU

Your time and talents have value at Austin Street Centre. You are also in a unique position to inspire and organize others to join you in volunteering for our organization.
It's good work ... God's work to be precise. And you won't often experience elsewhere the gratitude and need that will envelop you here.
Volunteers and volunteer groups help feed our minds, bodies and spirits around here at Austin Street Centre.

MEAL MINISTRY:  Volunteers from 120 plus different area churches, synagogues, school groups and service organizations prepare food in their kitchen, deliver it to Austin Street Centre and feed our residents each day. Contact Rev. Bubba Dailey at 214-428-4242 or send her email.

DAY PROGRAM:
A Day Program is provided for women and children as well as men who are elderly or too ill to work. This program, supervised by shelter staff, relies on volunteer groups. Contact Carisa Austin at 214-428-4242 or send her email.
Jesus, would you teach us to love our neighbors, especially those who don't seem so lovable, the way that you have chosen to love us? Teach us to see you in others, especially those who don't have the time, the means, or the interest, to make themselves out to be all that attractive. Teach us to recognize our brothers and sisters everywhere we go - in church, at school, when we are shopping at the grocery store, but especially in those places like the streets, where we are least likely to gain anything in the material from them. Teach us to do unto the least of our brothers and sisters as though we were doing it unto You!
